Privacy policy
Ponjika app. Last updated 15 October 2026.
Ponjika is a Hindu calendar with an AI assistant. This page explains what the app collects, where it goes and how to delete it. We do not sell your data, show ads or track you across other apps.
Without an account
Your city, birth details, family details, settings and chat history stay on your phone. To show the panchang and festivals, the app sends your city's coordinates (rounded to about 1 km) and time zone to our server, which does the calculation and keeps nothing.
When you use Ask (the AI assistant)
Before your first question, the app asks for your permission. Each question is sent with your city, your language and, if you saved them, the birth details needed to answer. It goes to our server and on to our AI service, run by Cruq, which uses a third-party language model (currently from OpenAI, through OpenRouter) to write the reply. These providers process the message to answer it and do not use it to build ads.
If you report a reply, we keep the reported text so we can review it.
With an account
Signing in is optional. Accounts are handled by Clerk, which stores your email address or phone number and sign-in details. With backup on (the default once you sign in), your profile (city, language, tradition, birth and family details) and your chats are saved to our database so they come back on a new phone. You can turn backup off in Settings at any time. Turning it off deletes the server copy right away.
Location
The app asks for your location only when you tap "Use my location". It is rounded to about 1 km and used to pick your city. Typing a city name sends that text to the Open-Meteo geocoding service to find matches.
Usage limits
To keep the free plan running, we count how many questions each device or account asks per day and how much the AI costs per month. These counters hold an anonymous ID and numbers, nothing you wrote.
Who processes your data
- Vercel: hosts our server.
- Cruq, OpenRouter and OpenAI: AI replies in Ask.
- Clerk: sign-in (account holders only).
- Neon: database for backed-up profiles and chats (account holders with backup on).
- Upstash: usage counters.
- Open-Meteo: city search.
Deleting your data
In the app, open Settings and tap "Delete all my data". That deletes your account, everything on our server and the data on your phone. Uninstalling the app removes the data stored on the phone. You can also email ponjika@cruq.ai and we will delete your account within 30 days.
Children
Ponjika is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes and contact
